Personal Branding: The Key to Getting Unstuck

What makes people feel “stuck” when it comes to their business?

  • They can’t tell what path is right for them

  • They’ve made an investment but don’t feel like it’s a fit for them

  • They can’t make a simple decision (like what email service provider to use)

  • They feel like they can’t be themselves

Among other things.

If you’ve ever felt stuck in your business, I would BET (and I’m no gambler) that it’s because you’ve neglected what your personal brand is trying to tell you. You feel the discomfort, but you push through against your better judgement, you suck it up, or you simply don’t move.

This is NOT OK with me.

Stuck means nothing more than wasting precious time, money and energy that could be used serving the clients who NEED you.

So you need to get unstuck.

And the secret is in your personal brand. Let me explain.

Finding Your Path

We all have passion in our hearts. And sometimes, it can seem really confusing (check out my blog on Being Multi-Dimensional). But that passion - that SPARK if you will - is showing us where to go. It’s what creates joy for us in our business when we are doing something we love. And it triggers anxiety and fear when you are doing something that’s NOT in alignment.

Your personal brand is there to make sure that you’re spark doesn’t go out. And once you can harness it, you create an environment that allows that spark to turn into a flame. A flame that lights the way down YOUR specific path.

Good Investments

We’ve all made bad investments. Yup, even me (twice). And in both scenarios, I made those investments because I thought someone ELSE had the answers that I needed. And BOTH times I was wrong. Because no one else has the answers you need. YOU DO.

You can learn from others. But their path is NOT your path.

With your personal brand lighting the way, you can avoid the trap of thinking someone else has the answers. And invest your money wisely; in the things that SUPPORT your personal brand.

Making Simple Decisions

If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know I love this concept of “mental calories”. You know, those thoughts that you “burn” worrying about things. This one comes down to a simple principle: you burn mental calories considering all the options, but you can’t figure out what’s right for you. So you make a decision based on someone else’s recommendation.

But just because a decision was right for someone else does NOT mean it is right for you. I once had a coach that told me that you needed ClickFunnels to have a solid lead funnel. I knew as soon as she said it, it was bogus. And didn’t spend a single mental calorie on considering that because I knew it wasn’t right for me. In fact, I don’t have an email funnel at all.

When you ask Facebook in general what calendaring software to use, you’re putting your faith in the wrong place. And burning MORE mental calories than required. Being confident that you can make the right decision for your business is critical, and it comes from owning your personal brand.

Being Yourself

As we grew up, there were a variety of ideas we collected that convinced us there was a better way to be than ourselves. Family, school, careers (check out this blog on how Climbing The Corporate Ladder chips away at your personal brand), all leading us away from being ourselves.

Your personal brand leads you back.

Back to your spark. Back to the REAL you. Back to confidently being the person you ARE; not the one someone else convinced you to be.

We all start out there as kids. And your personal brand doesn’t disappear. It just lays dormant.

You can find it; if you want to ;)

In Summary

I don’t believe in being stuck. I believe we are all here to make a difference, and every minute you stay stuck, the world loses.

You’re here to make your contribution. And you can do it simply by being who you are.
