Why More Fun = Better Business Results

You might think that as you make more money in your business, you’ll get more time to have fun. But, what if the key to success is actually having fun, and we’re looking at it the wrong way around?

What happens when we’re having fun

According to neurologist Judy Willis, “the highest-level executive thinking, making connections and ‘aha’ moments are more likely to occur in an atmosphere of ‘exuberant discovery’. When our brains respond to laughter, for example, our increased volume in breathing causes endorphins, adrenaline, and dopamine to be released, putting us into this state of ‘exuberant discovery”. And, as Elle Woods says in Legally Blonde, “Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t kill their husbands.”

They don’t get as frustrated or stuck in their business either ;)

So, when we’re having fun, we have the best opportunity for high-level thinking (strategic planning), making connections (marketing & sales) and ‘aha’ moments (problem solving). ALL of the things we need to be doing on a consistent basis to make our business successful. Hmm…

Have > Do > Be

As we grow up, we become convinced that happiness starts with "having a thing”. Once we have a thing, then we can do what we want, and we will be happy. It’s a formula of Have > Do > Be. For example, have you ever thought something along the lines of, “once I have a $5k month, or a $10k month, or a million dollars, I can buy my dream house, and I’ll be happy”.

The problem is, having a thing or reaching a goal is heavily dependent on many things that we can’t control. And when our minds are set on a specific accomplishment that defines who we get to be, there’s a huge feeling of disempowerment when it doesn’t come to pass the way we hoped.

Be > Do > Have

Now, let’s flip the formula and see if we can make it work in the other direction ;)

I can be confident and successful by embracing my personal brand and sharing my solutions, and I’ll have $1,000,000.

Feel a little more in control of your destiny?

When you focus on who you are being, you can tap into the authenticity that allows you to have fun with your activities. And when you have fun, you do better high-level strategic work. And if you’re doing that work better than anyone else, you win in your market, and that brings you all the things you want to have.

Are you picking up what I’m putting down? It’s all about your mindset ;)

If you’re all-in on the concept, but there’s still something that’s keeping you stuck in the Have > Do > Be mentality, let’s jump on a Discovery Call and figure it out.
